Greek officials have denied media reports suggesting that the possibility of providing Ukraine with Patriot systems is under consideration, Reuters reported on May 5, citing a government spokesperson.

“There is no question of supplying Ukraine with Patriot systems from Greece,” the official said.

This statement refutes previous information regarding the potential transfer of another system from Greece.

The New York Times, quoting US officials, reported on May 4 that Washington plans to send a Patriot system, currently based in Israel, to Ukraine after it is refurbished. The report also mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding the logistics of Germany or Greece potentially providing another system.

On April 28, it was reported that the United States was once again urging Greece to transfer its Patriot air defense systems, previously deployed to Saudi Arabia, to Ukraine.
