Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Greece has provided Ukraine with military, humanitarian, and diplomatic support, though often with caution to avoid escalating tensions with Russia.
Athens has supplied Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles (BMP-1s), Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, and rocket launchers, along with humanitarian aid and medical supplies.
Greece has also supported European Union sanctions against Russia and endorsed Ukraine’s path toward EU membership. However, unlike some NATO allies, Greece has been more reserved in sending heavy or high-end weapons systems, partly due to its own security concerns in the eastern Mediterranean.
