Group of Ukrainian Youth Evacuated From Russian-Occupied Territories

A group of Ukrainian children and teenagers has been successfully evacuated from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, according to a Facebook statement by the Bring Kids Back UA initiative and the NGO Save Ukraine, as reported by RBK-Ukraine and UNN on December 29 and 30.
Among those rescued are several young individuals who had been subjected to pressure, surveillance, or forced conscription by Russian authorities during the occupation.
The group includes a 17-year-old boy named Maksym, who was born with a hearing impairment. Throughout the occupation, he continued his studies remotely at a Ukrainian school. His family had previously faced repeated home searches by Russian soldiers due to their pro-Ukrainian stance.
Two brothers, 23-year-old Artem and 19-year-old Danylo, were also among the evacuees. Before the full-scale invasion, Artem served in Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces. During the occupation, the family was repeatedly targeted by Russian security services.

According to Save Ukraine, FSB operatives attempted to recruit the brothers and threatened their mother with deportation.
Another evacuee, 18-year-old Bohdan, was reportedly forced by Russian forces to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and was registered for military service in the Russian army. Upon receiving a draft notice, he made the decision to flee.
Also rescued was 17-year-old Dmytro, who, along with his family, was removed from his hometown under the pretense of “evacuation.” They were transferred to a tent camp in Russia’s Belgorod region and later relocated to a dormitory in Oryol region. According to the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, false documents were issued in an attempt to sever his ties with Ukraine.
Earlier, on December 5, a group of children aged 2 to 17 was evacuated from the Russian-occupied left-bank area of Kherson region, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional military administration. He reported that some of the children had been subjected to military training and propaganda, while their families faced threats and coercion.
