Iran to Reportedly Provide Russia With Fath-360 Short-Range Missile Launchers

Iran is reportedly set to deliver Fath-360 launchers for short-range ballistic missiles to Russia soon, according to two Western security officials and a regional source, as cited by Reuters on May 10.
According to the agency, the delivery of these launchers would bolster Russia’s ongoing offensive and further strengthen the growing security alliance between Moscow and Tehran.
The Fath-360 is an Iranian-made short-range ballistic missile designed for tactical strikes against targets within a 30 to 120 km (19 to 75 miles) range. It is a part of Iran’s Fateh missile family and is notable for its compact size, rapid deployment capabilities, and cost-effectiveness.
Last September, the US confirmed that Iran had shipped missiles to Russia aboard nine Russian-flagged vessels, all of which were sanctioned. However, at that time, sources indicated that the launchers were not part of the shipment.

The anonymous officials declined to provide further details on the upcoming transfer, including why they believed the launchers were not delivered alongside the missiles. However, according to the officials, the delivery of the Fath-360 launchers is now imminent.
Both Russia and Iran have consistently denied that Tehran shipped missiles or any other arms to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022. However, US, Ukrainian, and European officials assert that Iran has supplied Russia with thousands of drones and artillery shells.
In a statement last month, US Army General Christopher Cavoli told US lawmakers that Iran had provided more than 400 short-range ballistic missiles to Russia, possibly referencing the Fath-360s.
The news agency added that there has been no public reports of Iran transferring any other types of short-range ballistic missiles to Moscow, nor of Russian forces using the Fath-360 missiles.
