Tajani explained that all of the attacks were neutralized without causing significant disruption to the operations of diplomatic institutions or Olympic facilities.
“We successfully repelled a series of cyberattacks on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offices, starting with Washington, as well as several Winter Olympics-related sites, including hotels in Cortina,” Tajani said.
Russia has carried out a series of cyberattacks targeting countries worldwide, including an assault on Poland’s energy infrastructure at the end of December 2025, which nearly triggered a nationwide blackout, according to Polish officials.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, described the attacks as the most severe cyber assault on the country’s energy system to date. “This was the most severe attack on our energy infrastructure, aimed at cutting off electricity to citizens at the end of December,” he told RMF24.

The attacks occurred during a period of harsh weather conditions, making it significantly more challenging to restore stability. Gawkowski labeled the incident as an act of sabotage, saying, “Everything indicates we were dealing with Russian sabotage, which must be called by its real name—an attempt to destabilize Poland.”
He further warned that Poland was dangerously close to a widespread power outage, describing the cyberattacks as a form of "digital tanks" crossing the border. This escalation highlights the growing digital threats to European infrastructure, underscoring the importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding critical national systems.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia is intensifying covert attacks on critical infrastructure in Germany as part of a hybrid warfare strategy, which Berlin views as a possible precursor to a larger conflict.
