Japan Delivers 97 Units of Heavy Equipment to Ukraine for Emergency Recovery

The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) handed over 97 units of heavy equipment to the municipal enterprises of Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv as part of the Emergency Recovery Program between JICA and the Government of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.

According to the report, the sent equipment will improve services in the fields of transport, water supply, and processing destruction waste.

In addition, utility companies will be given a significant amount of generators, pipes, and other much-needed equipment to restore basic services.

“We will make every effort to ensure that aid from the Japanese side is attracted as transparently and accountable as possible," said Acting Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Vasyl Shkurakov.

The Grant Agreement for the Emergency Recovery Program between JICA and the Government of Ukraine was signed on March 9, 2023. The grant from the Government of Japan amounts to 22,440,000,000 Japanese yen ($172.75 million).
