Kaja Kallas Critizes Russia’s Ceasefire Delay: “Ukraine Agreed Four Weeks Ago”

On April 10, European defense ministers from approximately 30 countries gathered in Brussels for a meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing” to discuss continued support for Ukraine.
Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, emphasized the importance of expanding military aid and training efforts for Ukraine.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Kallas said, “It has been now four weeks when they [Ukraine] were very clear that they agreed to the unconditional ceasefire and Russia still hasn’t agreed to the ceasefire. So it’s clear that Ukraine wants peace, but Russia so far doesn’t.”

Kallas reminded journalists that Europe remains the largest provider of military training for Ukraine, with over 73,000 Ukrainian soldiers having already received instruction through the European training mission.
In addition to this, Kallas stated that Europe also leads in supporting the Ukrainian defense industry. The Vice-President of the EU Commission underscored Europe’s broader role, noting that “As a whole, Europe is the biggest provider of military aid.”
In related news, on April 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is ready to purchase a significant aid package from the United States, emphasizing its importance for the country’s security.
