Keith Kellogg Discusses War in Ukraine With Lukashenko During Rare US Visit to Minsk

US Presidential Envoy Keith Kellogg has confirmed that the war in Ukraine was a key topic during a recent meeting with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
In a post published on X on June 23, Kellogg stated that the American delegation held talks in Minsk with Lukashenko and his inner circle. Deputy Special Representative John Kole also took part in the visit, focusing on US-Belarus bilateral relations.
“I discussed the Russian-Ukrainian War and how President Donald Trump is pushing hard to stop the war and end the killing. President Trump continues to foster peace through strength,” Kellogg wrote.

The visit comes amid growing international efforts to secure the release of political prisoners and press for an end to Russia’s aggression in the region.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to release 14 political prisoners from six countries, including Japan and Poland.
Earlier, Keith Kellogg was expected to travel to Belarus for a meeting with its leader Alexander Lukashenko—marking what would be the highest-level US visit to the authoritarian state in years.
While the precise agenda remained undisclosed, two sources told Reuters that Kellogg had privately described the visit as an opportunity to “jump-start” stalled peace negotiations aimed at ending Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The trip had not been publicly announced, and all four sources requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the planning.
