According to The Times report, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will call for providing Ukraine with security guarantees to protect it from being pressured into an unfavorable peace agreement by a potential Trump administration during his visit to the US.

Previously, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine’s Victory Plan requires prompt support from President Biden and other Western leaders so Ukraine can initiate negotiations from a position of strength before the end of the year.

“I think this is a historical mission,” Zelenskyy said. “Let’s do all this today, while all the officials who want the victory of Ukraine are in official positions.”

According to The Times, Zelenskyy’s plan will consist of the following four key points:

  • request for Western security guarantees similar to NATO’s mutual defense pact;

  • maintain Ukraine’s operations in Russia’s Kursk region to secure a territorial bargaining chip;

  • request for “specific” advanced weaponry;

  • international financial assistance for Ukraine’s economy.

Previously, during an interview with CNN, Zelenskyy revealed that he would be discussing Ukraine’s Victory Plan with US President Joe Biden during the UN General Assembly in New York in late September. Zelenskyy also stated that he will share his plans with US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
