Kremlin Pressures Russian General Staff Over Failure to Capture Kupiansk and Pokrovsk

Russia’s General Staff is under intense pressure over missed deadlines to seize Kupiansk and the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration, the ATEHS resistance movement reported.
According to ATESH agents embedded among officers of Russia’s “Center” force grouping on December 15, the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces is facing serious pressure from the country’s top political leadership due to the failure of Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov to deliver key strategic objectives within the timelines set by the Kremlin.

“Officers returning from assignments to the General Staff report chaos inside the main military command body,” ATESH said, adding that Russian generals are openly discussing the “harsh dressing-down” they received “from the very top.”
The movement noted that Russia’s military and political leadership likely understands the real situation on the battlefield, despite public statements claiming Ukrainian towns have already been captured.

“Trying to force the situation on the battlefield to match political reports and statements, the General Staff command—under heavy pressure—is throwing massive waves of soldiers into assaults, ignoring record-high losses,” ATESH added.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian troops are increasingly feigning illness to avoid combat, with such cases surging after reports of possible redeployment to the Pokrovsk sector.
According to ATESH, there has been a noticeable spike in soldiers seeking medical treatment under false pretenses to evade fighting, particularly among members of the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade stationed in the Kherson area.
