Large digital billboards featuring images of Starlink satellite terminals and the message “Real actions save lives. Thank you for Starlinks, Elon” have appeared in central Kyiv.
According to a UNITED24 Media correspondent, photos of two different billboards installed on building facades. One of them shows a scene with a crowd and Starlink terminals, while the other depicts a shelter where Ukrainians, including children, are using the satellite internet service.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Starlink has become an essential pillar of Ukraine’s communication infrastructure, enabling both military and civilian connectivity in areas where traditional networks have been destroyed or severely disrupted.
Over 40,000 terminals have been officially delivered through Ukraine’s Digital Transformation Ministry, government efforts, and support from international partners. However, the real number is believed to be significantly higher, as volunteers, private businesses, and individual citizens have reportedly brought in an estimated 100,000 additional units to reinforce Ukraine’s ability to stay online.
For Ukraine’s armed forces, Starlink has been indispensable on the battlefield, providing stable communication lines between units, command centers, and reconnaissance teams. In combat zones, where traditional mobile networks are unreliable or nonexistent due to targeted Russian strikes, satellite internet is often the only available option.
It ensures real-time coordination, intelligence sharing, and drone operations—key elements of modern warfare.
Beyond military applications, Starlink has become a lifeline for Ukrainian civilians, particularly in frontline towns and cities where critical infrastructure has been heavily damaged.

Terminals have been deployed in train stations, post offices, and municipal centers, allowing residents to communicate with family members, access emergency services, and receive vital updates about the war.
Hospitals across Ukraine, especially in war-affected regions, rely on Starlink to maintain stable internet connections even during electricity blackouts caused by Russian attacks. Doctors use the service to coordinate urgent medical evacuations, access digital medical records, and consult with specialists remotely.
Similarly, schools and universities in frontline areas depend on Starlink to facilitate online learning, ensuring that students can continue their education despite the war.
Another key initiative where Starlink plays a crucial role is Ukraine’s “Points of Invincibility”—public shelters equipped with generators, heating, and satellite internet. These hubs provide people with a safe place to charge their devices, warm up, and stay connected during prolonged outages.
Earlier, Ukraine’s largest mobile operator, Kyivstar, announced a partnership with Starlink to introduce Direct-to-Cell satellite communication by late 2025. The technology will enable SMS, voice, and data services via satellite on standard 4G smartphones, ensuring connectivity in remote areas and during network disruptions.
