“Let’s Focus on Russia”: Trump Pledges to Prioritize Ending Ukraine War in Knesset Speech

After declaring the conflict in Gaza over, US President Donald Trump said his focus would now shift to ending the war in Ukraine. Speaking at the Knesset, Trump emphasized the need to “finish with Russia,” Fox News reported on October 13.
“We have to do this. If you don’t mind, Steve [Whitcoff], let’s focus on Russia first, okay?” he added, mentioning US special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Trump also recounted his surprise at the length of a recent meeting between Steve Witkoff and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. “When I sent him to Russia, I expected the meeting to last 15–20 minutes because Steve knew very little about Russia, Putin, or the politics,” Trump said.
“After five hours, he came out. I said, ‘What the hell were you talking about for five hours?” He continued.
Previously, Donald Trump said he plans to raise the possibility of sending Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if Vladimir Putin does not agree to a settlement, telling reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Israel that he may discuss the issue directly with Putin.
