Luxembourg will allocate an additional €20 million for Ukraine’s defense and energy support, with €10 million directed to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund. The funds will be used for infrastructure, equipment, and fuel.

This was stated by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on April 1.

The funding was announced by Sybiha during a briefing with Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister, Xavier Bettel, and Defense Minister, Yuriko Backes.

The ministers visited Kyiv on April 30, where they toured the Okhmatdyt hospital, which was damaged during a Russian strike last year. They also visited a drone manufacturing facility, where they were introduced to advanced Ukrainian technologies and UAV production capabilities.

“The funds from the energy fund will be directed to critical needs, ranging from the purchase of equipment and fuel to the modernization of energy infrastructure,” stated the minister.

Sybiha r also noted that Luxembourg’s military support to Ukraine has already surpassed €250 million and emphasized that Kyiv highly appreciates Luxembourg’s participation in four defense coalitions, particularly in the IT coalition, where Luxembourg serves as a co-leader.

The parties also focused on Ukraine’s reconstruction. Sybiha highlighted that Luxembourg, through its LuxDev agency, is already implementing 40 recovery projects in Kryvyi Rih.

“This is an important contribution, especially in light of recent Russian strikes. I suggested considering the possibility of expanding these programs to other regions, particularly Kharkiv. We are also grateful for the continued support of humanitarian demining projects,” the minister added.
