The Norwegian company Griff Aviation has produced the GRIFF 60 cargo drone for the Ukrainian military, which will be delivered to Ukraine through the Norwegian volunteer organization Fritt Ukraina, NRK reported on April 27.

The company stated that they are donating their advanced drone to Ukraine on their own initiative.

The GRIFF 60 cargo drone is equipped with eight motors and can carry a payload of up to 60 kilograms. Its flight time is 33 minutes. The drone’s price ranges from 2 to 3 million Norwegian kroner (approximately $180,000).

“The most important thing we can do from Norway is to give Ukrainians the ability to defend themselves. This drone can help with that and save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers,” said volunteers from Fritt Ukraina.

“Now, it’s possible to safely transport and evacuate goods using the drone,” said representatives from Griff Aviation.

The company offers several variants of its GRIFF series drones. In 2022, Griff Aviation also introduced the GRIFF 135 model, which is equipped with M72 EC Mk1 grenade launchers.

To achieve this, the company has partnered with NAMMO to develop a launch mechanism that will transform the GRIFF drone into an unmanned combat aerial vehicle.

The aforementioned M72 EC Mk1 is typically a handheld grenade launcher. Weighing 3.4 kg, it fires a 66mm projectile with an initial velocity of 200 m/s. The GRIFF 135 drone is equipped with two such disposable grenade launchers.

On April 11, Norway’s Ministry of Defense announced it will provide $934 million to support the training and equipment of a new Ukrainian brigade being developed in coordination with Northern European and Baltic states.
