“They agreed to meet at a time that would be most beneficial and effective, namely after the meeting between President Trump and Putin in Alaska, depending on the agenda,” the Élysée Palace said to Suspilne.
Details on the exact time and location of the meeting have not yet been disclosed.
Previously, it was reported that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said Trump conducted a video conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders.
“Trump made it clear he will demand from Putin an unconditional ceasefire,” Barrot wrote, adding that any talks on territorial issues “will take place only with President Zelenskyy present at the next meeting.”
The US, he said, will join a “coalition of the willing”—led by France, the UK, and Germany—to provide Ukraine with security assurances.
Also, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to join Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin for a pivotal virtual meeting with the US President Donald Trump, according to a report by Bild.
The purpose of the summit is to prepare for the upcoming Putin-Trump meeting scheduled for Friday in Alaska. The meeting is crucial for discussing potential peace negotiations, with European leaders keen to unify their position before Trump’s talks with the Russian leader.
