EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced that the bloc will prepare its 19th package of sanctions against Russia and pledged to step up military and financial aid to Ukraine, France 24 reported on August 11.
Speaking after a meeting of EU foreign ministers on August 11, Kallas said they had agreed to support any US initiatives aimed at achieving a “just peace” in Ukraine, while stressing that the process itself remains crucial.
“As far as Russia has not agreed to full and unconditional ceasefire, we should not even discuss any concessions,” Kallas stated.
She emphasized the importance of the sequence of steps, beginning with an unconditional ceasefire backed by “a strong monitoring system and ironclad security guarantees.”

“We will work on the 19th package of sanctions,” she added.
Kallas also said the EU would continue efforts to provide military and budgetary support to Ukraine, as well as advance the country’s EU accession process.
“Transatlantic unity, support to Ukraine and pressure on Russia is how we will end this war and prevent future Russian aggression in Europe,” she wrote on X on August 11.
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the EU’s 18th package of sanctions against Russia, introducing a tougher set of measures designed to cut Kremlin revenues and strengthen enforcement.
