Massive Overnight Russian Missile and Drone Attack Hits Ukraine, Casualties Reported in Zaporizhzhia

In the early hours of August 30, Russian forces carried out extensive air assault launching almost 540 drones, eight ballistic missiles, and 37 other types of missiles against multiple regions of Ukraine according to the government officials. The attacks caused casualties and inflicted widespread damage on residential areas and critical infrastructure.

In Zaporizhzhia, one person was killed and 22 injured, among them a 10-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, according to the Head of the Regional Administration, Ivan Fedorov. Eight of the wounded were hospitalized. The attack struck two five-story apartment blocks and five private houses, leaving parts of the city without electricity.

The Dnipropetrovsk region also came under attack, with strikes reported in the regional capital Dnipro and the city of Pavlohrad. Regional governor Serhiy Lysak confirmed that infrastructure facilities were damaged and fires broke out at the sites.

In western Ukraine, Lutsk was targeted by drones, but local authorities said no impacts or injuries were recorded. “At this stage, there is no information about strikes. The attack passed without casualties,” Volyn Regional Head Ivan Rudnytsky stated.

In the Kyiv region, railway infrastructure sustained damage. Ukrainian Railways reported delays on several long-distance routes noting that normal operations are expected to resume in the coming days.

Earlier it was reported that a Russian airstrike on Kyiv killed at least 18 people and injured 48, including children aged 2, 14, and 17, making it the deadliest strike on the capital in recent months.
