The 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Tavriyya Brigade successfully repelled one of the largest Russian assaults in the Kurakhove direction since the start of the Russian full-scale war against Ukraine.

According to the brigade’s press service, the Russian forces launched a coordinated attack at dawn, deploying a massive amount of military assets. “The occupying army simultaneously used 11 tanks, 45 armored combat vehicles with landing forces, and one Terminator tank support combat vehicle,” the brigade reported. Additionally, 12 motorcyclists were deployed in the assault.

Aerial reconnaissance by the 79th Brigade detected the Russian equipment advancing from a distance. The brigade’s artillery immediately targeted the enemy formations. “Our artillery immediately started working on the battle formations of the occupiers,” the press service stated.

The brigade’s defense strategy involved multiple layers of resistance. Initially, attack drone operators engaged the advancing tanks and armored fighting vehicles. Following this, anti-tank units entered the fray, effectively halting the Russian advance. Mines planted by the brigade’s sappers also played a crucial role in destroying enemy equipment.

The battle resulted in significant Russian losses. The paratroopers destroyed 6 tanks, 7 armored combat vehicles, and all 12 motorcycles. Additionally, 40 Russian soldiers were killed, and 37 were injured.

On June 23, the Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian TOR air defense complex, hidden in Olenivka. Scouts from the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade used a drone to locate the system.
