Moldova Expels Three Russian Diplomats Over Alleged Breach of Diplomatic Status

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova declared three Russian embassy staff members persona non grata, accusing them of actions incompatible with their diplomatic status.

A note on this matter was delivered to the Russian Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, on March 31, Interfax reported, citing the press service of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The decision of the Moldovan authorities is based on clear evidence of activities contrary to diplomatic status on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The diplomats in question are about to leave the country,” the ministry wrote.

On February 14, the National Police of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian and Moldovan law enforcement agencies had conducted a joint international operation, codenamed “Avengers,” leading to the detention of mercenaries affiliated with the Wagner Group and other irregular armed formations fighting against Ukraine.
