Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, of suppressing information about Russian war crimes, specifically the killing and injury of Ukrainian children during the war.

According to a post by MFA spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, the platform marked a publication from the official account of Ukraine’s foreign ministry as “graphic content” and hid it from users. The post contained only statistical data about child casualties from Russia’s full-scale invasion: at least 616 children killed and 1,869 injured.

“For real, X? Since when is the number of Ukrainian kids killed by Russia considered ‘graphic content? ’” Tykhyi wrote. “This isn’t preventing users from exposure to graphic content. This is sweeping Russian war crimes under the rug. This is shameful and must be reversed.”

Tykhyi shared a screenshot showing the hidden post, which had no graphic imagery but included official data on civilian child casualties.

The accusation comes amid an escalation in Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities using missiles, drones, and guided bombs. On April 4, 2025, a Russian Iskander missile armed with cluster munitions struck a residential neighborhood in Kryvyi Rih. The strike killed at least 20 people, including nine children, and injured over 70 more.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains that censoring posts containing factual information about civilian casualties, including children, hinders international awareness of ongoing war crimes.
