The European Union has delivered over 980,000 rounds of ammunition to Ukraine, nearing completion of its 1 million-shell promise made in March 2023, EU Foreign Affairs Representative Josep Borrell confirmed during an interview with European Pravda on November 11.

The remaining ammunition will arrive shortly, with EU officials expecting the full delivery to be complete by year’s end.

“We have almost done it. We have already delivered more than 980,000 shells, and very soon we will reach the 1 million goal,” Borrell stated.

He acknowledged that the initial goal was to deliver this number by spring 2024 but assured that the target would be met within the year, adding, “We have accelerated our efforts for this purpose.”

Additionally, a substantial quantity of ammunition has been provided through bilateral agreements between EU member states and Ukraine, alongside contributions under the Czech initiative.

Altogether, by December, EU countries are projected to supply more than 1.5 million rounds to Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting with Borrell, said “This is very important news. By the end of the year, European partners are on track to fulfill their commitment to deliver 1 million rounds of ammunition for our artillery.”

Earlier, Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine’s defense industry manufactured more than 100 missiles in 2024.
