Netherlands Boosts Ukraine’s Cyber Defense With $12M Support Against Russian Hybrid Warfare

The Netherlands is stepping up its support for Ukraine's defense against hybrid warfare, pledging a substantial financial contribution to a key international program.
Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, David van Weel, announced a commitment of around $12 million toward the British cyber program for Ukraine via X on October 30.
He emphasizied that Russia's relentless cyberattacks are not isolated incidents but rather a dangerous component of a hybrid military campaign that poses a threat to the security of all of Europe.

“The UK is our valued partner in strengthening Ukraine's resilience,” Van Weel stated, underscoring the necessity of international cooperation.
According to him, this contribution from the Netherlands is designated to support the critical work of the Tallinn Mechanism, a leading international coalition established to provide cyber support and bolster Ukraine’s digital defenses.
Additionally, during his visit to Kyiv on October 28, the Netherlands’ Minister of Foreign Affairs announced a new financial aid package specifically targeting Ukraine's battered energy sector.

Van Weel stated that the Netherlands plans to send approximately $30 million to assist with energy infrastructure restoration. This critical funding is designated for equipment, emergency repairs, and essential gas purchases for Ukraine. The Minister stressed that continued strong pressure on Russia remains vital as Ukraine heads into the winter.
Earlier, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans reported that the Netherlands will commit a new $95 million military aid package to Ukraine, specifically earmarked for boosting drone production.
