The Netherlands will allocate a new financial aid package for Ukraine. It will be aimed at restoring the country's energy infrastructure.
This was announced by the Netherlands' Minister of Foreign Affairs, David van Weel, via X during his visit to Kyiv on October 28.
According to him, the Netherlands will send about $30 million for equipment, emergency repairs, and gas purchases for Ukraine. He also emphasized that strong pressure on Russia is vital.
Van Weel announced that the Netherlands will host the initial stages of establishing a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression.
“We must ensure that Russia's war crimes do not go unpunished,” the Dutch Foreign Minister added.
Steun voor Oekraïne en stevige druk op Rusland zijn van levensbelang. We moeten er ook voor zorgen dat de Russische oorlogsmisdrijven niet onbestraft blijven. During his meeting with his Dutch counterpart, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha provided an update on the situation at the front and the impact of recent Russian strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He also outlined Ukraine’s current priorities for strengthening air defense and stabilizing the energy system ahead of winter.
“We highly appreciate the support of the Netherlands, including military assistance worth over 13 billion euros ($15 billion). The Netherlands also became the first country to contribute 500 million euros ($580 million) under the PURL initiative. I thank you for this decisive step and your leadership,” said Andrii Sybiha.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the two sides signed a memorandum on the joint production of drones worth around $234 million.
The ministers also discussed efforts to hold Russia accountable for its war of aggression and related war crimes.

“I highly value the leadership of the Netherlands and my colleague personally in advancing the establishment of a Special Tribunal on the Crime of Aggression and supporting the international compensation mechanism,” Sybiha emphasized.
European integration was another key topic on the agenda. The Deputy Foreign Minister thanked the Netherlands for its consistent support of Ukraine’s EU aspirations, stressing that this path represents a guarantee of peace and stability for the entire continent.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to joint peace efforts, underscoring that unity and strength remain the only way to end the war.
“Strengthening Ukraine, increasing pressure on the aggressor, and raising the cost of war—that is the path to a just peace,” Sybiha stated.
Earlier, during a NATO meeting of defense ministers, the Netherlands' Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced a new $95 million military aid package for Ukraine. This support is specifically intended to boost drone production.
