New Video Shows French CAESAR Howitzer Hitting Targets With “Near HIMARS Accuracy”

The 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after Anna of Kyiv, has released a video of the French-made CAESAR self-propelled howitzer in action, highlighting the system’s accuracy when paired with aerial reconnaissance, the brigade reported on December 4.

The CAESAR platform—a highly mobile, truck-mounted artillery system—is described by Ukrainian forces as combining maneuverability, rapid deployment, and precision that “artillery systems of this class rarely demonstrate.”

Those traits, the brigade said, are among the reasons CAESAR remains considered one of the most effective artillery platforms in modern warfare.

On the Pokrovsk axis, after the system has fired thousands of rounds, repeatedly halting Russian attempts to advance.

Ukrainian operators credit the integration of real-time target acquisition and corrections with enabling the platform to deliver precision strikes with minimal possible delay.

The brigade said Ukrainian quadcopters and fixed-wing reconnaissance drones provide the situational awareness that allows the CAESAR to strike deep targets with “near HIMARS-level accuracy.”

Earlier, reports emerged that the new batch of CAESAR self-propelled howitzers the Czech Army is set to receive next year will be modified to take into account lessons learned from Ukraine.
