U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, stated that no peace agreement will be imposed on Ukraine and that the decision on ending the war will be made by Ukraine itself.
According to Sky News, Kellogg made these remarks during a press briefing at NATO headquarters in Brussels, emphasizing that any peace agreement must be reached in coordination with Ukraine. “He and the people of Ukraine will make this decision,” he said, referring to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Kellogg noted that the US is open to discussions with all parties involved and that his role is to ensure security guarantees for Ukraine. He also confirmed that his visit to Ukraine is still being coordinated and that a meeting with President Zelenskyy is planned.
Following talks with NATO officials, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that Kellogg had consulted with alliance members on collective efforts to ensure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. “We have much to accomplish and will continue close cooperation to end the war and secure long-term stability for all of us,” Rutte noted in a post on X.
Earlier, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg stated that the U.S. aims to mediate negotiations between Ukraine and Russia within 180 days, emphasizing that Ukraine’s sovereignty and security remain a priority.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he underscored the need for dialogue, criticized the previous U.S. administration’s approach, and highlighted Trump’s commitment to ending hostilities while ensuring a lasting peace. Kellogg also stressed that any security guarantees for Ukraine would not resemble previous agreements like Minsk-2 and confirmed that key parties, including the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia, would be involved in discussions.
