Norway will allocate approximately $107 million to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, the Norwegian government announced on February 12.
The funds will be used to procure air defense systems from the United States through the American JUMPSTART program.
Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik informed Ukraine’s delegation about the contribution during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.
The funding is part of Norway’s $2 billion military aid package for Ukraine in 2025 under the Nansen Program.
“Europe must do more for Ukraine, and Norway stands by that commitment. Air defense has long been Ukraine’s most urgent military need and is crucial for protecting both military and civilian infrastructure, as well as the Ukrainian population,” Sandvik stated.
The minister also noted that in 2024, Norway provided Ukraine with air defense assistance worth more than $575 million.
Earlier, Ukraine was discussing deepening its partnership with Norwegian defense company Kongsberg, a key supplier of NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine.
