Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has begun work at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in the Ramstein format, currently taking place in Brussels on February 12.
According to Umerov, the meeting represents a critical stage in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and coordinating allied efforts.
He emphasized the significance of this development on his Telegram channel, noting that UK Secretary of State for Defense John Healey is chairing the meeting for the first time, while newly appointed US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is also in attendance.
The discussions focus on ensuring a stable and timely supply of military assistance throughout 2025, accelerating the delivery of critically important weapons such as air defense systems, aircraft, and ammunition, and expanding investment in Ukraine’s defense industry through joint projects with European partners.
The meeting will also address the expansion of defense production in Ukraine, financing the country’s defense sector, establishing new enterprises, and increasing arms supply volumes through European defense industry capacities.
In addition to the Ramstein meeting, Ukraine NATO Council defense ministerial talks and the Munich Security Conference are scheduled this week.
Umerov also highlighted in a Telegram post that Norway has committed over €2 billion in military aid to Ukraine for 2025, marking the largest defense assistance package in Norway’s history.
During discussions with Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram, particular attention was given to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, an area in which Ukraine expects further Norwegian support.
Earlier, Oleksandr Syrskyi Ukraine’s military commander-in-chief stated Russia has significantly reduced its artillery ammunition usage following successful Ukrainian strikes on its production facilities and depots.
