German Chancellor Olaf Scholz described Russia’s use of the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) “Oreshnik” on Dnipro on November 21 as a dangerous escalation, according to the German news outlet Tagesschau.

“The latest escalation shows everyone how dangerous this war has become,” Scholz stated.

He referred to the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia as another escalation. “[North Korean soldiers] are now being sent into this war and are dying for Putin’s imperial dream,” he said.

Scholz reaffirmed that Germany remains a steadfast supporter of Ukraine. He remained firm, however, on the decision that Germany will not supply Kyiv with “Taurus” cruise missiles.

NATO and Ukraine are set to hold an emergency meeting concerning Russia’s use of an ICBM on Dnipro. Meanwhile, the White House has issued a stark warning to Moscow regarding its missile strike on Dnipro and the involvement of North Korean troops in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
