In response to an intensive air assault by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied aircraft began operations in Polish airspace, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced on June 9.

According to the official statement published on X, in line with established procedures, the command mobilized all available forces and resources under its control.

"Combat air patrols were launched, and air defense and reconnaissance systems reached the highest level of readiness," the statement read.

Polish authorities emphasized that the actions are preventive and aim to ensure national security and monitor the situation near the country’s borders.

"These actions are preventive in nature and are carried out to ensure security and monitor the situation in the immediate vicinity of the borders of the Republic of Poland," the command noted.

The Operational Command emphasized that it remains in constant readiness to respond to any threats that may undermine Poland’s territorial integrity or the safety of its citizens.

Earlier, Poland deployed fighter jets early Monday in response to renewed Russian missile strikes on Ukraine launched by strategic bombers.

According to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, this marked the second consecutive night of heightened activity for Poland’s air defense systems, prompted by intensified operations of Russian long-range aviation targeting sites in Ukraine.
