Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk dismisses Vladimir Putin's statement about the escalation by dragging NATO into war if the West allows Ukraine to strike Russian territory with Western long-range missiles.

PM Tusk stated this during a press conference on Friday, September 13, Reuters reports.

“It is necessary to take all events in Ukraine and on the Ukrainian-Russian front very seriously, but I would not attach excessive importance to the latest statements from President Putin. They rather show the difficult situation the Russians have on the front,” said Tusk.

Putin has said in a recent commentary to Moscow reporters that lifting long-range missile restrictions on Ukraine would mean that NATO countries would be at war with Russia.

"If this decision is made, it will mean nothing less than the direct participation of NATO countries, the United States, and European countries in the war in Ukraine," he said.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer addressed Putin's threats by emphasizing that Russia initiated the war and underscoring Ukraine's right to defend itself.
