Precision US HIMARS Strike Obliterates Russian Tank Column in Eastern Ukraine, Video

Ukrainian airborne forces, supported by a precision-guided HIMARS strike, have destroyed a Russian armored column attempting to advance toward Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, according to the 79th Air Assault Brigade.
The strike took place on the evening of August 28. Reconnaissance teams from the Ivan Franko Group, operating under the 79th Brigade, identified a mechanized Russian assault group approximately 10 kilometers behind lines.
The column was moving from the settlement of Prohres toward Malynivka, east of Pokrovsk.
According to the brigade, the Russian formation included seven armored vehicles—tanks and infantry fighting vehicles—as well as up to 100 soldiers. Part of the personnel were reportedly riding motorcycles.
The initial HIMARS strike targeted the column while it was in motion. Following the impact, FPV drone operators from the Ivan Franko Group engaged the remaining vehicles and personnel. A second HIMARS strike was later conducted to eliminate what remained of the disorganized group.
The 79th Brigade reports that the operation resulted in the destruction of all armored vehicles and the elimination of at least 50 Russian soldiers.

Ukrainian forces suggest the targeted Russian unit may have been part of a larger contingent recently redeployed from Kursk region to the Donetsk region, possibly including elements of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.
The appearance of large-scale mechanized forces in this sector contrasts with Russia’s recent pattern of using small infantry assault groups to reduce losses from drone strikes. Ukrainian commanders believe the increased presence of heavy equipment may be related to attempts to exploit gaps in the so-called “grey zone” between forward positions.
Earlier, on August 1, Ukrainian forces destroyed a North Korean-made 170mm Koksan self-propelled gun in a precision HIMARS strike, coordinated by the 14th Separate UAV Regiment. The operation resulted in a direct hit, secondary detonation, and the elimination of six crew members, marking another confirmed engagement involving North Korean-supplied weapons on the battlefield.
