President Zelenskyy Visits Pokrovsk to Honor Defenders of the City
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the positions of the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade in Pokrovsk, a city on the frontline. The brigade is responsible for defending the city from Russian forces. During his visit, Zelenskyy spoke with the soldiers and presented them with awards in recognition of their service.
President Zelenskyy emphasized the resilience of Ukrainian forces, highlighting that it is their strength that has prevented the full occupation of the eastern part of the country.
Pokrovsk has become a key hotspot in Ukraine’s defense, with the Russian offensive in the area marked as one of the most challenging. The city, located in the Donetsk region, has been under constant threat as Russian forces advance within 20 kilometers of it.
The Ukrainian General Staff reports frequent attacks, with nearly half of the enemy’s daily assaults concentrated near Pokrovsk. Despite the ongoing Russian attacks, the city remains functional, but authorities are urging residents to evacuate as the situation deteriorates. Heavy fighting continues, particularly around Pokrovsk, Toretsk, and Kurakhove, which are considered the most difficult fronts to defend.
