Romanian Presidential Candidate Emphasizes Continued Support for Ukraine as Key to Regional Security

Nicușor Dan, the mayor of Bucharest and an independent candidate in Romania’s upcoming presidential election, said continued military support for Ukraine is vital not only for Kyiv, but for Romania’s national security.
In an interview with Reuters on April, 24 Dan underscored that the outcome of the war in Ukraine directly affects both Romania and neighboring Moldova.
“I want to underline that the war in Ukraine is essential for the security of Romania and Moldova,” Dan in an interview.
The mayor also expressed the view that Romania should continue facilitating the export of Ukrainian grain but stressed the importance of consulting Romanian producers to ensure they are not placed at a disadvantage.
“I appreciate what the Romanian state has done so far, the direction… was correct and must continue.”
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed that any American frustration should be directed exclusively at Russian President Vladimir Putin, reaffirming Paris’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
