Rubio: US Weapon Supply to Ukraine Paused for Stockpile Checks, Not Political Decision

The United States has not made a political decision to halt weapons deliveries to Ukraine, and recent pauses in supplies were caused by technical factors, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on July 10.
“There was no political decision to stop arming Ukraine. We were simply verifying our stockpiles, which required a temporary pause in the supply of certain types of munitions,” Rubio told reporters.
According to Interfax Ukraine his comments came in response to the Pentagon’s recent decision to pause the transfer of some weapons systems, including missile defense assets.

Rubio emphasized that the US continues to provide military aid to Ukraine using funds previously approved by the former administration. At the same time, Washington is actively working with international partners to secure additional air defense systems for Ukraine.
“We are in active discussions with other countries about the transfer of Patriot systems,” he said, naming Spain and Germany as potential contributors.
Rubio added United States were exploring creative solutions to maintain the flow of defensive weapons to Ukraine.
Earlier, reports indicated that US President Donald Trump pledged to deliver 10 Patriot air defense interceptors to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy without delay, aiming to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses amid continued Russian missile strikes.
