On the evening of September 7, Russian forces conducted an airstrike on the village of Mykolaivka in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region, hitting a hotel. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two people from the rubble, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).
The hotel was hosting animal welfare volunteers from Kharkiv, who had come to provide free sterilization and vaccination services for local animals. Preliminary reports suggest that Russian forces used several KAB bombs in the attack.
Mykolaivka is located on the eastern outskirts of Sloviansk, a city in the Donetsk region. The strike partially destroyed a four-story hotel building.
During the rescue operation, emergency workers cleared 101 tons of debris and completed their work after recovering the victims' bodies.
