Moscow’s forces advanced in and around the Ukrainian city of Kupiansk, seizing several rail stops and an oil depot on the city’s eastern edge, according to Reuters on November 11.

A Russian ground commander using the call sign “Hunter,” identified as leading an assault detachment of the 1486th Motorised Rifle Regiment, claims in a Defense Ministry video that troops had taken rail stops along the line toward Kupiansk Vuzlovyi, about 6 km south of Kupiansk’s center, and were fighting to clear the station at nearby Kupiansk-Sortuvalnyi. Reuters said it could not independently verify the battlefield claims.

Reuters reported that Moscow has been employing pincer movements aimed at encircling both Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. Ukraine said on Monday it delivered supplies to Myrnohrad, east of Pokrovsk, while Russian war bloggers circulated an unverified video claiming to show Russian forces entering Pokrovsk; Reuters could not immediately verify the location or timing.

Ukraine’s top commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, told the New York Post that Russia had concentrated about 150,000 troops for the push on Pokrovsk and that Ukrainian forces were using urban terrain to slow the advance and counter sabotage units, Reuters reported.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian troops surrounded and were eliminating Russian units that had advanced near Pokrovsk, according to Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
