Russia Increases Attacks on Russian Settlements in Kursk Region, Minister Says

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, reported that Russian forces are increasingly shelling their own settlements in the Kursk region. This observation was shared on the social media platform X on October 19, 2024.
In the Kursk region, Russians are increasingly shelling their own settlements. Artillery and air strikes without any mercy for civilians. Typical Russian scorched-earth tactics, which they now use on their own villages and towns. Russia disregards human life — at home and abroad.

According to Sybiha, the artillery and air strikes have been conducted with little regard for civilian life, reflecting a strategy reminiscent of the scorched earth tactics employed by Russian troops. He emphasized that this pattern of aggression is now being directed toward Russian villages and towns.
Sybiha pointed out that Russia shows a blatant disregard for human life, both within its borders and abroad.
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that there have been attempts by Russia to push Ukrainian forces back in the Kursk region; however, Ukrainian units are reportedly holding their ground amid these developments.
