“Russia Is the Problem, Not Ukraine”: Senator Graham Urges Stronger US Action

Senior US Senator Lindsey Graham called on Senate leadership and fellow lawmakers on May 22 to “get ready to act” against Russian leader Vladimir Putin, accusing him of deliberately obstructing peace talks with Ukraine.
“We have sat on the sidelines too long. We have watched too many people get slaughtered by Putin,” Graham told the Senate floor, Kyiv Post reported, citing its correspondent’s reports.
His appeal reflects growing frustration among US officials, who increasingly view Putin as the main barrier to a negotiated end to the war.
“Russia is the problem, not Ukraine. Ukraine didn’t invade Russia; Russia invaded Ukraine. We need moral clarity on all these issues,” Graham said. “Putin, in my view, is playing us all.”

Graham urged his colleagues to approach the war with “moral clarity,” emphasizing that Russia is the clear aggressor.
“We can stop the killing but do it in a way that we don’t have future wars because we made a mistake here. There are so many things going on in the world right now that are very dangerous,” he added.
On May 21, US Senators Richard Blumenthal and Graham stated that they have already introduced a bill proposing new sanctions on Russia, including a 500% tariff on imported goods from countries that purchase Russian energy resources.
