Russian forces killed two civilians and injured seven more in a series of attacks targeting residential areas in Ukraine’s Donetsk region on May 13, the National Police of Ukraine reported.

According to law enforcement, Russia launched 2,631 attacks over the past day along the frontline and civilian infrastructure. A total of 65 civilian objects were damaged, including 61 residential buildings.

In Berestok, a strike from a Russian Smerch multiple launch rocket system killed two civilians. Pokrovsk was also targeted, with three civilians injured by shelling.

Illinivka suffered a drone strike, injuring one civilian, and a second KAB-250 bomb strike in Vasiutynske left another person wounded. In Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Russian shelling also injured one civilian.

Additionally, Russian forces dropped a KAB-250 aerial bomb on Novoeconomichne, wounding one person.

These attacks come amid renewed ceasefire discussions. On May 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to travel to Türkiye for peace talks on May 15, expressing hope that Russian leader Vladimir Putin would attend.

On May 12, the Kremlin rejected Zelenskyy’s proposal to hold direct talks with Putin in Istanbul on May 15, with top Russian officials denouncing the idea as political theater and insisting Moscow will not engage under any form of pressure.

Despite earlier dismissals, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later confirmed that a Russian delegation will attend the talks in Istanbul on May 15, though he did not specify who would represent Moscow.
