Russia Has Launched Over 2,000 “Shahed” Drones at Ukraine in October

A record number of Russian drone attacks, with a total of 2,023 drones launched at Ukrainian targets in October, primarily aimed at civilian and critical infrastructure was reported by the Ukrainian General Staff on November 1.

This includes both Iranian-manufactured strike drones and other unidentified drone types, marking an escalation in Russia’s aerial assault tactics.

According to the General Staff, of the drones deployed, Ukrainian air defenses managed to destroy or suppress 1,185, while another 738 were tracked but lost from radar, according to the General Staff’s report. Additionally, 29 drones crossed out of Ukrainian-controlled airspace.

Overall, since the beginning of 2024, Russia has launched 6,987 strike drones into Ukraine’s airspace.

Earlier, a Russian drone strike targeted Kyiv, causing a fire in a residential high-rise building and injuring at least 9 people, including an 11-year-old child.
