Russia Loses Two Jets in One Day, Su-25 Downed by Ukrainian Forces and SU-34 Fighter Jet Crashes
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated downing a Su-25 jet aircraft in the Pokrovsk direction but didn’t disclose any details.
“A SU-25 aircraft, one tank, an armored fighting vehicle, a cannon, and four cars were destroyed,” the General Staff wrote.
One the same day, Russian media reported, with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the crash of the Russian Su-34 fighter bomber in a mountainous area in North Ossetia, Russia during a scheduled training flight. The crew didn’t survive.
The preliminary cause of the plane crash is considered a technical malfunction.
This is yet another crash of Russian aircraft in a series of recent crashes. On 14 March, a Mi-8 helicopter carrying 20 people crashed in Russia's Magadan region. Then, on 19 April, a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber crashed in Russia's Stavropol Krai.
