Russia Reserves the Right to Violate Ceasefire Agreement on Energy Strikes, Says Peskov

The Russian government reserves the right to disregard the informal moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on March 28. His comments, reported by state news agencies TASS and Interfax, accused Kyiv of violating the agreement.

Peskov claimed that actions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicated a breach of the moratorium and suggested this reflected a “trend of declining control over the military by the Ukrainian leadership.”

“All segments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are disregarding the orders of Ukraine’s leadership by striking Russian energy facilities, revealing a total lack of control within Ukraine’s military,“ Peskov said in response to a question from TASS.

He also claimed nationalist units in Ukraine are “gaining strength and expanding,” indicating the Kyiv government has “lost control.”

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukrainian forces of launching a new strike on the Sudzha gas metering station in Kursk region using US-supplied HIMARS multiple rocket systems.

At the same time, overnight on March 28, Russia carried out a large-scale UAV strike targeting industrial zones in Ukraine’s Odesa and Poltava regions, damaging both civilian and energy infrastructure. According to Ukrainian presidential adviser on communications Dmytro Lytvyn, at least two confirmed Russian strikes in the past 24 hours have hit energy facilities.
