NATO Admiral Warns a Flawed Peace in Ukraine Could Be Worse Than Continued War

The goal in Ukraine is to end hostilities across the entire country and secure a just peace, however, a flawed peace can be worse than no peace at all. This was stated by Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone in an interview with RBC.
“Achieving a complete ceasefire along a front line as extensive as Ukraine’s is an extremely complex challenge, influenced by numerous factors,” Dragone said.
“Naturally, the goal is to end hostilities across the entire country and secure a just, lasting peace. However, as previously stated, a flawed peace can be worse than no peace at all.”
According to the Admiral, a frozen conflict would represent the worst-case scenario. Therefore, current efforts should focus on reaching a genuine and sustainable resolution.
In March, several rounds of talks between the US, Ukraine, and Russia took place in Saudi Arabia, with the main focus on a potential ceasefire.
The negotiations followed a “shuttle diplomacy” format, with the American delegation holding separate discussions with the Ukrainian and Russian sides.
On March 25, Zelenskyy confirmed that a 30-day ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea and a mutual ban on strikes against energy infrastructure between Ukraine and Russia, brokered with US involvement, came into effect on Tuesday.
