Russia Showcases New Interceptor Drones, Mirroring Designs Used in Ukraine’s Defense

The Russian Center for Unmanned Systems and Technologies (CBST) has presented a new series of specialized interceptor drones at the “Archipelago-2025” forum in Skolkovo.
The models displayed featured various aerodynamic and structural designs, some resembling solutions seen in Ukrainian intercept drones, according to TheDeadDistrict via X.
Among the systems showcased was the Skvorets-PVO interceptor, equipped with vertical take-off capability and an artificial intelligence-based auto-targeting system. Developers claim it can reach speeds of up to 270 km/h.
The Kinzhal model, also presented, reportedly achieves a maximum speed of 300 km/h. According to CBST, it is capable of autonomously engaging targets and can be integrated into an automated UAV detection network.

Another system on display was the BOLT interceptor, part of a broader counter-UAV complex. The complex includes radar-based target detection, with targeting data provided either manually by an operator or from air defense radar systems.
In addition to aerial interceptors, CBST introduced the Krestnik-M, designed to target moving maritime objects. The drone can be launched from land, sea, or air platforms, featuring a V-tail design and straight wings that deploy after launch or release.
The exhibition also included the Ovod-PVO multi-role quadcopter-type interceptor, intended for capturing and destroying hostile UAVs. It can be equipped with either a kinetic payload or an integrated system for initiating an explosive charge.
Earlier, reports indicated that Russian forces, particularly the “Rubicon” unit, have adopted anti-drone tactics first pioneered by Ukraine, significantly increasing the downing of Ukrainian reconnaissance UAVs, including Leleka, Horlytsia, Shark, and FlyEye systems.
