Russian forces launched a missile strike on the city of Kamyanske in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region overnight, killing two people and injuring five others, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) on July 29.

“At night, Russian troops carried out a missile strike on Kamyanske. As a result of the attack, two people were killed and five others were injured,” the SES of Ukraine reported.

The missile strike partially destroyed a three-story building and triggered a fire covering about 100 square meters. Emergency crews quickly extinguished the blaze.

Nearby, a maternity hospital and a city hospital ward sustained damage.

Kamyanske Mayor Andrii Bilyusov confirmed that the maternity and therapeutic departments of Hospital No. 9 were among the worst hit.

“All the windows were shattered, and door frames were blown out at high schools No. 31 and No. 11,” he said.

According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, “Two people were killed. Five more were injured. Two women are in serious condition. One of them is pregnant. Three other patients are in moderate condition.”

Lysak added that the three-story building struck in the attack was not in use, but surrounding medical facilities, including the maternity ward and a city hospital department, were seriously damaged.

Mayor Bilyusov elaborated: “The buildings suffered roof damage, all windows were blown out, and several vehicles in the hospital parking lot were destroyed by fire. All patients have been relocated to other medical institutions. Windows were also shattered at the dermatology and venereal disease dispensary and the children’s clinic.”

Additional damage was reported at Gymnasium No. 8 and Kindergarten No. 2, while residential areas also suffered extensively—49 buildings were damaged and more than 300 windows were blown out.

In a separate incident, Russian forces targeted firefighters in the Synelnykove district of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

According to the SES, a Russian drone strike set a cargo truck ablaze in one of the settlements. When emergency workers arrived to extinguish the fire, they came under direct attack from a second strike.

“While extinguishing the fire, the enemy deliberately struck the firefighters again. A fire and rescue vehicle was damaged in the attack,” the SES reported. None of the emergency workers were injured.

Earlier, eight people, including a three-year-old girl, were injured in a Russian drone strike on Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district.
