Russia Targets Kherson Energy Facility, Leaving 45,000 Without Power

Russian strike damaged one of Kherson’s energy facilities on the morning of April 1. This was reported by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a joint press conference with his Lithuanian counterpart, Kęstutis Budrys, according to Suspilne Kherson. 45 thousand people were left without electricity.

Earlier, the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Roman Mrochko, reported that parts of Kherson’s Korabelnyi and Tsentralnyi districts were left without electricity.

In March, several rounds of talks between the US, Ukraine, and Russia took place in Saudi Arabia, with the main focus on a potential ceasefire.

On March 25, a 30-day ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea and a mutual ban on strikes against energy infrastructure between Ukraine and Russia brokered with US involvement, came into effect.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the development during a meeting with journalists on March 25, following negotiations in Saudi Arabia involving delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.

At the same time, the Kremlin stated that the temporary ceasefire moratorium will be in effect for 30 days, starting from March 18, 2025.
