Russian Army Has Already Started Its Summer Offensive, Says Ukrainian Military

The Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Group has reported that the Russian army has effectively already launched its summer offensive.
Pavlo Shamshin, spokesperson for the operational-tactical group, said during a telethon broadcast on May 15 that military personnel on the front line have observed Russian occupying forces amassing troops and effectively beginning their summer offensive campaign.
He emphasized that there should be no expectation of a ceasefire in the near future.
Shamshin explained his position by pointing out that during the so-called "Easter" and "three-day" ceasefires, there was no lull on the front lines; instead, Russian forces intensified their assaults on Ukrainian positions.

"I don't share such illusions (that the Russians would want peace)—and many Ukrainian soldiers feel the same way," he added.
Rodion Kudryashov, deputy commander of the Third Army Corps, noted that Russian forces are using the so-called "ceasefire" to regroup and build up their forces, as well as to establish logistical supply routes. According to the Financial Times, Russians are preparing for an offensive this summer and are redeploying forces to key hotspots on the battlefield.
It was previously reported that Russia has brought in a special regiment of elite FSB forces to the front line near Chasiv Yar as its regular troops continue to face setbacks in the battle for the strategically important eastern Ukrainian city, a Ukrainian military spokesperson stated, Suspilne. Donbas reported on May 11.
