Russian forces launched two ballistic missiles at port infrastructure in Odesa on May 23, killing one person and injuring eight others, according to Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper.

“The enemy struck Odesa’s port infrastructure with two ballistic missiles. One person was killed and eight others were injured. The deceased was a port worker,” Kiper reported on his Telegram.

Of the eight injured, four are in serious condition, two sustained moderate injuries, and two suffered minor wounds.

“Our doctors are providing all necessary medical assistance and are fighting for the lives and health of each victim,” Kiper said. He urged residents and visitors in Odesa region to respond promptly to air raid alerts and immediately seek shelter when they are announced.

UPD: The number of fatalities has increased to two, as one of the injured has died.

A 71-year-old Odesa resident passed away in the hospital from injuries sustained during a ballistic missile strike on the city’s port infrastructure. Seven others were also injured in the attack.

Earlier, a Russian missile strike targeted a military training ground near the town of Shostka in Sumy region, killing six Ukrainian service members and injuring at least ten others.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the attack occurred during a scheduled training exercise. An official investigation is underway, and the commander of the affected unit has been suspended pending the results.
