Russian Ballistic Missile Strike Hits Downtown Izium, 5 Killed and Dozens Injured

A Russian ballistic missile strike on Izium has resulted in the deaths of four people and left 20 others injured, five of whom required hospitalization, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, on February 4.
One person remains trapped under the rubble, as rescue operations continue.

The strike hit the central part of the city, causing partial destruction of administrative buildings and damaging a residential five-story building. Emergency services, including search-and-rescue teams, paramedics, and canine units, are working at the scene.
Valerii Marchenko, head of the Izyum Military Administration, stated that the attack caused significant damage in the area.

Earlier, in September 2022, a mass grave containing 447 bodies was discovered near Izyum following the end of Russian occupation. Many victims showed signs of violent death, including torture. As of January 2025, 22 of the exhumed bodies remain unidentified, with local authorities calling for public assistance in their identification.
UPDATE: The death toll has risen to five as rescue workers recovered another body from the rubble.
UPDATE: The number of injured in the Russian missile strike on Izium has risen to 43, including three children, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The death toll remains at five.
