In the early hours of May 4, Russian forces launched a series of drone attacks targeting Kyiv, Cherkasy, and the Kharkiv region, causing fires and significant infrastructure damage across multiple urban areas.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), 11 people were injured in Kyiv, including two children aged 14 and 15. The strikes resulted in fires and destruction in the Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the capital.

In Obolonskyi district, one of the drones hit the Dream Town-2 shopping center. The facility sustained substantial damage and will remain closed on May 5.

Several nearby residential buildings had windows shattered by the blast wave, and seven vehicles were destroyed in a fire. A 12-story apartment building also caught fire, with flames reaching the roof and partially collapsing the top floor.

Fires were also reported in three residential buildings in Sviatoshynskyi district. In Shevchenkivskyi district, drone debris ignited a tree and damaged a power line and road infrastructure near a railway bridge.

All fires in Kyiv have since been extinguished, SES reported.

In Cherkasy, one person was injured, and five separate fires were recorded across residential homes, warehouses, and a dormitory. Two apartments in a four-story dormitory building were heavily damaged, and nearby windows were blown out.

Meanwhile, in the Kharkiv region, Russian drones targeted multiple locations in the Izium district. In Izium city, drone strikes caused fires at a post office and on the balcony of a residential high-rise. In the village of Levkivka, a school, several warehouses, and the village council building were damaged or partially destroyed.

Earlier on May 2, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on Kharkiv using thermobaric Shahed drones, injuring 51 people, including two children. The strikes caused fires and damage across four city districts, with local officials warning the use of such munitions in urban areas poses extreme risks to civilians.
